The Benfica athlete Fernando Pimenta, alongside José Ramalho, won the gold medal in K2 at the 2024 World Marathon Championships in Metkovic, Croatia, on Sunday, September 22.

After the titles in 2022 (Portugal) and 2023 (Denmark), the Portuguese duo have now celebrated in Croatia, becoming three-time world champions.

With a time of 1h53m56.58s, the national canoeists beat all the competition, with the French duo of Quentin Urban and Jeremy Candy coming in at 1.65 seconds (1h53m58.23s). Rounding out the podium was the Hungarian pair, Adrian Boros and Tamas Erdelyi, with 23.10 seconds less (1h54m19.68s) than the now three-time world champions.
