Diogo Ribeiro, a Benfica athlete, won the silver medal in the 100-meter butterfly event at the European Under-23 Swimming Championships in Samorin, Slovakia, on Thursday, June 26.

After qualifying with the 2nd best time (52.11 seconds) and winning his heat in the morning, the Eagles swimmer competed in the final in the afternoon, finishing in 2nd place with a time of 51.73 seconds. Romanian Denis-Laurean Popescu won the heat (51.48 seconds), and the podium was completed by Croatian Vili Sivec (52.22 seconds).

After his performance on the first day of the event, Diogo Ribeiro will compete again tomorrow (Friday, June 27) in the 50-meter freestyle, as well as on Saturday (June 28, the final day of the event) in the 50-meter butterfly and 100-meter freestyle.
