Amar Dedic, a 22-year-old right-back, is the latest addition to Sport Lisboa e Benfica's professional football team. He signed a contract with the club valid until 2030, transferring from FC Salzburg to Estádio da Luz.

Officially announced on Monday, July 14, as a new player for the Eagles, the Bosnia and Herzegovina international left a message of ambition to Benfica fans.

"I will give my best and give everything to win games and titles for you.", said Dedic in an exclusive interview with BTV.

CAREER

The Benfica new signing started out playing for the youth teams of LUV Graz and Sturm Graz before joining FC Salzburg's academy. On July 26, 2019, at the age of 16, Dedic made his professional debut for Liefering, FC Salzburg's subsidiary club, in a match against Amstetten on matchday 1 of the Austrian Second Division.

During that same season (2019/20), Dedic scored two goals in 24 games, and on September 9, 2020 (2020/21), he played his first minutes for FC Salzburg in the Austrian Cup match against Bregenz. He then continued to develop at Liefering, where he played another 26 games, and in 2021/22, he was loaned to Wolfsberger, where he scored 3 goals in 35 games.

His good performances and accumulated minutes led to the right-back's return to FC Salzburg, and in 2022/23, he established himself in the Red Bulls: 38 games between the Championship, Cup, and Champions League, a competition in which he made his debut. He also recorded three goals. The following season (2023/24), he remained a fixture in the starting eleven and scored five goals in 31 games, wearing the captain's armband in 20 of them, at just 20 years of age.

Dedic

Last season (2024/25), Dedic played in 25 games for FC Salzburg before moving on loan to Marseille in the January transfer window. In France, he played 10 games before returning to Austria. Now, he has transferred to the Glorioso.

Born in Zell am See, Austria, Dedic chose to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina, the country where his parents were born and where most of his family lives. The full-back has earned caps for the U16, U17, U19, and U21 teams, making his debut for the senior team on March 29, 2022, in a friendly against Luxembourg.
