Born in Toronto, the new recruit of the four-time national champions, a former player for the Canadian Brampton Honey Badgers, said he was “thrilled” to be joining the team coached by Norberto Alves.
"To be part of a winning culture, to contribute to winning championships and victories. I can't wait to meet my teammates, the staff and the fans," explained Koby McEwen, speaking to the club's media.
Having played in Canada, the United States of America, China, Lithuania, Poland and Sweden, the basketball player, who was named Canadian Player of the Year in 2024 when he played for the Vancouver Bandits, said he was “looking forward to working with everyone at the club” and explained his goal as a Benfica player.
"I'm coming with the goal of being a professional, improving every day, competing and playing at a high level. I can't wait to get to Lisbon and start working," said the Canadian international point guard, who in 2013 won bronze at the FIBA Americas U16 Championship in Uruguay.
