Fernando Pimenta e José Ramalho

Portuguese Canoeing Federation

Another world title! Impressive! Fernando Pimenta, a Benfica athlete, became world champion in K2 (29.2 km) on Sunday, September 7, winning the race held in Gyor, Hungary, to close the Marathon World Championships.

After winning the gold in K1 short distance (3.6 km), on September 4, Fernando Pimenta performed exceptionally well in the duo formed with José Ramalho in K2 (29.2 km), once again securing first place.

The race was tough and the differences between the three boats that finished on the podium were small. Fernando Pimenta and José Ramalho completed the course in 1:54:00.62 minutes, beating the Danish pair Mads Brandt Pedersen and Philip Knudsen (1:54:01.89 minutes). Hungarians Adrian Boros and Tamas Erdelyi came in third (1:54:03.85 minutes).
