The Benfica Museum - Cosme Damião invites you to take part in a conversation about active ageing. How should you prepare your body and mind in old age? What strategies should be adopted to combat sedentary lifestyles and social isolation? These and other questions will be debated by a panel specialising in the fields of health and sport. Luís Alcobia
Community Projects Manager – Benfica Foundation | Sport Lisboa e Benfica
Luís Alcobia is currently Community Projects Manager at the Benfica Foundation. With a master's degree in Sports Management, he began his career at the Benfica Foundation in 2016, coordinating projects in inclusion through sport, including walking football. His work covers areas such as active ageing, the inclusion of people at risk and employability.
Joana Araújo
Sports Psychologist – Health & Performance Department | Sport Lisboa e Benfica
Joana Araújo has a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and a postgraduate qualification in Sports Psychology. She is currently a sports psychologist, more specifically the psychologist for the men's basketball and futsal teams. She works individually and collectively with the players and staff of both teams, discussing cases and counselling. In addition to the teams to which she is assigned to work with, she also responds to extra-team cases, and is involved in training programmes and projects.
Pedro Sabbo
Physiotherapist – Health & Performance Department | Sport Lisboa e Benfica
Pedro Sabbo has been a physiotherapist at Benfica's clinic since 2023 and he has been working with athletes from various sports and age groups at the Club. He graduated in Physiotherapy from the Escola Superior de Saúde de Alcoitão in 2011 and began collaborating with Benfica in 2021, having worked with rugby youth teams and men's futsal. He has more than 10 years' experience in community clinics and senior residential units, having developed mobility class projects, active ageing in the community, education and health promotion.
Isabel Martins
Member of the Grandma Came to Work project
Isabel Martins is 71 years old. She has a degree in Early Childhood Education. She has a son, is divorced and currently retired. ago and never wanted anything else. She has always been active, even when she was working. She performed in the theatre, did handicrafts and played percussion. She loves going to the gym, walking her two dogs and going out at night. She met Grandma Came to Work seven years ago and never left.
