Women's Elite Training Camps: always growing

The final curtain fell on the 15th edition of Elite Training Camps after three weeks that once again demonstrated the success of the initiative. This year, around 350 young people from 48 different countries worked and developed their skills using Benfica's training methodology, with the participation of coaches and their respective programs at Benfica Campus. "The overall assessment is positive. It is recognition of the work done by the coaches throughout the year and that Benfica’s image and brand are growing internationally," Tiago Silva, coordinator of Elite Training Camps, told BTV. Next up is the women's football edition, which will last a week and feature athletes from destinations such as “Thailand, the United States, and Canada,” as well as “many Portuguese players.” “Women's football is growing a lot,” concluded Tiago Silva.

During the 6th edition of the Elite Training Camps for women – which runs from Sunday, July 20, to Saturday, July 26, at Benfica Campus –, 40 young women between the ages of 12 and 19 from various locations had the opportunity to meet with Inspiradoras Pauleta and Chandra Davidson, who answered questions about their routines and challenges as professional athletes and took a group photo with the participants. Chandra Davidson also signed autographs for the entire group and made sure to take photos with three fellow Canadians.

With an increase in the number of participants compared to 2023, the 14th edition of the Elite Training Camps, which took place at Benfica Campus between June 23 and July 20, was a success. "It was the biggest edition ever. We had 418 participants. It's the recognition of people who want to experience what it's like to work at Benfica Campus," Tiago Silva, one of the program's coordinators, told BTV. In the previous year, there were 375 registrations, which shows the increase achieved. With 64 young athletes of various nationalities, the record was also broken for the women's team. “It's good to prepare for the pre-season,” says Luciana Rodrigues, who plays at university level. The 15th edition is already underway!

Ivanovic is already getting to know his new home! After being presented as a new signing for Benfica's professional squad on Thursday, July 31, the striker began training at Benfica Campus.

With their eyes set on the 2025 Cândido de Oliveira Super Cup, the Sport Lisboa e Benfica's professional football held a training session on the morning of Wednesday, July 30, at Benfica Campus, the day before the match.
