In red-hot form at Valencia, club he represents, on loan from PSG, in the current season, Gonçalo Guedes does not forget the Club that nurtured him. The forward spoke about Benfica and praised the importance of the current eagles' manager, Rui Vitória, in his career progress.

“Rui Vitória was very important because he gave me a lot of freedom inside the team in those six months, he gave me confidence to be at ease on the pitch and be able to do what I know. It is not easy when are from the youth training teams. We arrive at the first team and we always have that nervousness, maybe we pass the ball instead of going for the one on one, or we pass the ball and we don't read the spaces. Rui Vitória gave me a lot of things and I have to say he was very important for me”, stated Gonçalo Guedes, in an interview with the newspaper “A Bola”.

The Portuguese international, plays in the Spanish league, but he follows everything that happens at Benfica, the club he loves.

“I still follow from a distance. I have a lot of friends at Benfica and I keep in touch with a lot of people, I don't want to lose touch with Benfica. I watch all the matches, I always know Benfica's league standings, it is a club the will always leave a mark on me”, confessed the forward.

“Benfica is the club I love and I want them to always win. Because I have a lot of friends there, I have built a friendship with a lot of people and I know they are special moments they will keep forever... I am a Benfica fan, I am very proud of being a Benfica fan and I give a huge value to Benfica”, stressed Gonçalo Guedes.

About the title race in Portugal, Gonçalo Guedes considers that “Sporting and FC Porto are only stronger that Benfica in the number of points”.

Already forecasting the outcome of the Liga NOS, Gonçalo Guedes just has one wish: “May Benfica win again and get the fifth league title in a row!
