The present arrived on the eve, but it is in this Sunday, April 1, that Jonas turns 34. It is true: Europe's top scorer with 33 goals scored in the Liga NOS, Benfica's number 10 reaches a new age level and he does it in red-hot form.

Named "Man of the match" in Benfica's win over V. Guimarães (2-0) on Saturday afternoon at Estádio da Luz, a result which made the team move to the top spot of the Championship, Jonas played his 150th match with the eagles and, in absolute terms, reached 121 goals scored.

Breaking down through the four season he has been representing Benfica, and only analyzing the records in the Portuguese top flight, we can observe that Jonas is two goals shy from one hundred goals scored in the most important Portuguese competition: he has 98 goals scored.

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
