The men's team of Benfica became Europe's vice-champion in European Champions Clubs Cup in Athletics, held during the weekend in Birmingham, England. 

In the second day of competition in the men's sector, Benfica improved the third place it had achieved in 2016, becoming vice-champion only 4.5 points behind the Turkish of Enka.

In this second day of events, the Eagles won three of the nine events (110 metros hurdles, pole vault and triple jump), with a special emphasis for the new personal record of António Vital e Silva, who threw the hammer 73.26 meters.
