All eyes were on Sines, for the official opening of the 2017/18 season. At stake was the Super Cup, with SL Benfica, who won the double last season, and CAB Madeira, runner-up of the Portuguese Cup, battling in Alentejo.

Benfica's starting line-up: Carlos Morais, João Soares, Antywane Robinson, Jesse Sanders and Raven Barber.

At the end of a great basketball match, Benfica manage to get a 104-74 win.

With this triumph in the 33rd edition of the Super Cup, José Ricardo's men lifted the 14th Super Cup in the club's history.

Carlos Morais, with an amazing performance, was named the MVP of the game.

Players who scored for Benfica: João Soares (21), Antywane Robinson (9), Raven Barber (12), Carlos Morais (19), Cláudio Fonseca (2), Jesse Sanders (4), Nuno Oliveira (14), Carlos Andrade (13), Tomás Barroso (5), Aljaz Slutej (4) and Nicolas dos Santos (1).

The LPB starts in the weekend, with Benfica hosting Vitória de Guimarães at Pavilhão Fidelidade,
