Since Bruno Lage is the first team coach Benfica has a 100% winning record in the Liga NOS. With the 4-0 win over GD Chaves, the Reds have become the emblem with the best winning streak among Europe's Top 40 leagues.

The record of eight straight wins began being built on January 6, at Estádio da Luz, against Rio Ave (4-2). In fact, at the end of the match against the final "flavienses", the coach of Benfica recalled that victory and the importance of the supporters.

“I remember that at 20’ against do Rio Ave, we are trailing by 0-2 and, after we won back the supporters, it was they who won us over with the support”, recalled Bruno Lage.

BENFICA'S EIGHT WINS CYCLE

Round Match Result
16 BENFICA-Rio Ave 4-2
17 Santa Clara-BENFICA 0-2
18 V. Guimarães-BENFICA 0-1
19 BENFICA-Boavista 5-1
20 Sporting-BENFICA 2-4
21 BENFICA-Nacional 10-0
22 CD Aves-BENFICA 0-3
23 BENFICA-GD Chaves 4-0

Since then there have been 33 goals scored (an average of 4,1 per match) and only five conceded (0,6).

If we expand the analyses to UEFA's Top 40 leagues – according to the coefficient –, no club replicates the Reds' record. There are emblems who come close, but no club belongs to the top five leagues of the Old Continent. With seven triumphs we have the Croatian of Dinamo Zagreb, curiously, Benfica's next opponents in the Europa League, Celtic from Scotland and the Poles of Krakow.

With a streak of six consecutive wins, we have Mouscron (Belgium), Midtjylland (Denmark) and the Serbs of Red Star and Radnicki Nis.
