André Almeida: “We are doing our path”

André Almeida scored one of the goals that earned Benfica the win over Borussia Dortmund in the penalty shootout, after a 2-all draw at the end of the 90 minutes.

“It was an opponent that created us different problems compared to the ones team teams had created us so far, but Benfica knew how to deal with them, creating problems too”, he said.

“We knew how to adapt ourselves and solve the problems. It is normal for them to create problems, they are a top-quality team, but Benfica is on the right path and it proved that”, he completed.

The pre-season has been running at a good pace so that the team is ready for the official matches. The first is against Fenerbahçe for the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League, but the players are not thinking about that match.

“We are doing our path step by step and give a response. We are not thinking about that match [Fenerbahçe], but when it arrives we will be ready”, he assured.

The right-back scored and was named the Man of the Match.

“I am happy, it was good to have scored and helped the team.” he concluded
