João Félix joins the Golden Boy race

The name of Benfica's attacker was added to the list of candidates to the award that aims to distinguish the best U-21 European player of the season.

In his debut year at Benfica's first team, João Félix (18 years) saw his name be added to the list of 40 candidates to the Golden Boy, an award granted by the Italian newspaper "Tuttosport".

After each update, the list has been registering new entries, but also several exits. With the last changes, the array of nominees was reduced from 60 to 40 footballers. The benfiquista Gedson was also in the race at some point.

Apart from João Félix, who this season has already participated in six Benfica matches (one of those as a starter in the Championship) and scored two goals, there is another athlete of the Club among the four dozen finalists. It is Jota, the Portuguese U-19 European Champion who usually competes in the B team and also plays for the Reds U-19's in the UEFA Youth League.
