The right-back André Almeida launched the game from matchday 3 of the Champions League stage group between Ajax and Benfica, that takes place on Tuesday, at 8 pm, at the Johan Cruijff Arena. He praised the Dutch, but he aimed at getting the three points.
“Ajax is an excellent team, with an offensive football and players with value. We had a week break, but now with the opportunity to work on the match. We will do everything to win it ”, he assured.
In the Champions League, Ajax comes from a draw in Munich against Bayern, but André Almeida stressed that the respect is always the same.
“The respect does not increase because it is always the same. It is a four-way fight. At the moment, all teams can go through to the next stage. We will face this match to win”, he said.
Asked if he would "buy" a draw with Ajax in this match, André Almeida claimed that the Reds always play to win.
“We do not have that habit and we don't settle for draws against no one. We came here to the intention of winning and that is what will try to do”, he stressed.
If Jardel does not feature as a starter, André Almeida will wear the armband, but he remembered that the leader on the pitch is another player.
“I have had the opportunity to be captain. It is a pride and an unbelievable feeling, but the captain is the Jardel”, he admitted.
