15 years of Estádio da Luz: memories from Cardozo

There were seven high-level seasons at Benfica (2007/08-2013/14). There are many stories that Óscar Cardozo must remember and tell about the matches held at Estádio da Luz.

"We could talk for one hour about the good moments I have lived at the Stadium with Benfica’s jersey. And even so, it would short", said the former forward from the Eagles in exclusive statements to the Official Site of SL Benfica.

"There were many goals... It was all very special", highlighted Cardozo, who is in the Club’s history as the best foreign goal scorer (172 goals).

The memories take him to particular events: on May 9, 2010, Benfica became National Champion after beating Rio Ave in the last round of the competition by 2-1. Cardozo scored a brace. "That is, without a doubt, an emblematic moment. I scored the two goals in the match in which won the national title", he highlighted.

There are many good memories. "Those three goals against Sporting in the Portuguese Cup... We won 4-3 after extra-time", said the Paraguayan international, referring to the derby that took place in the Cathedral on November 9, 2013.

"There was also a very special goal, it was against Manchester United [September 14, 2011], in the Champions League group stage. I lived really good moments at Benfica and at Estádio da Luz", shared Cardozo. "The goals I scored against FC Porto, the ones I scored in the Europa League... There were so many unforgettable moments", he emphasized.

"And the supporters! I do not forget the supporters. I had goosebumps when they sang my song ", said the Eagles number seven. "I also remember the Eagle Vitória flight, it was always something beautiful to see. I miss everything I lived at Estádio da Luz", finished Cardozo.
