Gedson is the only Portuguese player among the five finalists from the 2018 edition of the Golden Boy. The prize is awarded by the Italian newspaper “Tuttosport” aims to distinguish the best U-21 player of the year.

The midfielder from Benfica was among the 20 up for voting until this Wednesday and he received 7% of the votes, adding his name to Thomas Davies (Everton), De Ligt (Ajax), Justin Kluivert (Roma) and Vinícius (Real Madrid).

At the age of 19, Gedson was promoted to the first team of the Eagles at the beginning of the 2018/19 season. So far, he has carried out 18 matches – 16 of those as a starter– and scored three goals, the latter at the Allianz Arena, in matchday 5 of the Champions League Group Stage. The good performances have also earned him the called-up for the National Team.

The winner of the 2018 Golden Boy award will be revealed on November 17, at a gala in Turin.
