Adel Taarabt, the midfielder born in Fès (Morocco), renewed his contract with Sport Lisboa e Benfica, a Club he represents since 2015/16. The number 49 jersey of the team led by Bruno Lage extended his contract with the Eagles until 2022.

The 30-year-old joined SL Benfica in the 2015/16 season and in the two following seasons he was loaned out to Genoa. From Italy to Italy in the 2018/19, with a spell at the B team and a rebirth in the National Champion by the hand of the gaffer Bruno Lage.

Obviously I'm very happy and I'm looking forward to the new chapter of my life. I think this contract renewal is a vote of confidence. I am very proud that the Club believes in me and I am very happy that we have reached an agreement to extend the contract”, claimed the Moroccan.

In 2019/20, the midfielder has been working hard and presents himself as an asset to the team. A good preseason, culminating in the ICC victory, seven minutes player in the Super Cup triumph and a lot of desire to win more…

“I think we had a very good start um but we're still at the beginning of the season and we're focused on our goals. We take training by training, game by game! That's why we're focused. It was the best possible start, but it was only the first game of the season [Paços de Ferreira], there are 33 games to go so we just have to take game by game and in the end see how it goes”, he explained in relation to victorious start in the current season, especially in the Liga NOS.

Looking at the red group, Taarabt has no doubts in choosing it as one of the most united…

I've had many years of football, but the spirit of this team is something I haven't seen much of. So, he believe in this group, a mixture of experience and  talented players. We have a very good group”, he said.

And on a more personal level? Are you more confident than ever?

“Not confidence, but I feel more comfortable. I never lost confidence because I know what I can give the team, nd I'm here to help and make my contribution”, claimed Adel Taarabt.

To finish, a message to the Benfiquista Family.

“I'll give my best everytime the coach puts me on the pitch and, of course, thank them [fans] because they supported me. I'll do my best for the Club”, finished the midfieldero .
