He arrived in Lisbon, penned his contract, was at Estádio da Luz and got to know the Benfica Campus. Roger Schmidt, to BTV, showed himself "excited" to start working and "eager to be part" of Benfica's history, a club with "great tradition" and where, definitely, "there is something special". As for the method, there it is: "Football is not only what happens on the pitch, it is also what happens in people's heads and how connected and passionate they are". And this is the only way to "show the best football and fight for trophies".

The gates of the Benfica Campus were opened to welcome Roger Schmidt. At Seixal, accompanied by President Rui Costa and Pedro Mil-Homens, general director of youth football, the coach visited the various areas of what will be one of his main workplaces in shaping the characteristics of Benfica 2022/23. "It is a really good structure, it has everything to develop the players, to improve them and to create the next generation of players for Benfica, for the first team", said Roger Schmidt, exclusively to BTV.
