FPF brings the national non-professional competitions to an end

Football

This decision is justified by the fact that "the public health conditions are not yet in place for clubs with amateur structures, as befits the competitions in which they participate, to train and compete safely".

The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) issued on Wednesday a statement to announce that it has decided to bring all non-professional national competitions to an end because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thus, all non-professional senior competitions, which have been suspended since March 13, will have no winners. In other words, no titles will be awarded, and there will be no promotions or relegation.

On the other hand, the FPF will communicate, as soon as possible, how the two clubs of the Campeonato de Portugal that will be promoted to the II Liga (second tier of Portuguese football) will be chosen, as well as Portugal's representatives in the women's football and men's futsal Champions League.
