Pizzi: "It was a victory of great belief"

On the night he played his 300th official match with Benfica's jersey, Pizzi scored his 10th goal in 2020/21. The Portuguese international scored the 1-1, that gave the reds the possibility of taking the match against V. Guimarães to the penalty shootout and advance to the final four of the League Cup (4-1 after penalties). 

"We achieved one more goal"

"We could have done better in the first half, we could have moved the ball around faster and created more goal chances. The truth is that Vitória de Guimarães also had one/two goal opportunities, and they were more effective... But we did a good second half, with a lot of patience, with ball possession and creating goal chances. Unfortunately, we are not able to complete the comeback within 90 minutes but I think it was a victory of great belief, with a lot of quality especially in the second half. We must congratulate the entire team because in the penalty shootout we performed very well, the players who took the penalties and our goalkeeper [Helton Leite], who ended up being crucial. We have to give him a lot of credit. We achieved one more goal, which was to reach the semi-finals of the League Cup."

"Now we must focus on Gil Vicente"

"We are used to competing every two/three days, it is normal for a big team. We are in a lot of competitions but I think the players want that, to play, to be in competitive action. Winning these matches [Portuguese Cup and League Cup] is important for us to win confidence. Now we must focus on Gil Vicente, that will certainly be a very tough match."
