The response in the last official match, against Boavista (0-3), led coach Bruno Lage to use the same starting line-up, with the following starting eleven: Trubin, Tomás Araújo, António Silva, Otamendi, Álvaro Carreras, Florentino, Aursnes, Kökcü, Di María, Aktürkoğlu and Pavlidis.
Gil Vicente also had their eyes on Benfica's goal, and when they came close in the 8th minute, they managed to open the scoring. Fujimoto, from the right of the attack, put the ball into the box, and Félix Correia made it 0-1.
Pressure on the ball carrier gave the Reds territorial control, and they were always more predisposed to playing in the opposing half. Their uncompromising attitude was rewarded with another goal from the laboratory. Di María's corner, in the 17th minute, from the right of the attack, with the ball coming out tense at the far post. Otamendi, higher than the Minho defenders, headed the ball into the back of the net with quality (1-1).
The confidence of the Red and Whites increased in the 25th minute when they completed the comeback. An excellent pass from Tomás Araújo on the right found Aursnes. The Norwegian international, close to the goal line, crossed into the heart of the area where Aktürkoğlu unleashed magic with a precise header (2-1): his third goal in four games for the club.
The play, in the 78th minute, started with the Argentine forward. Rollheiser, from the right, passed the ball into the central corridor, where Amdouni received it, ran with it and, outside the area, finished powerfully with his left foot, extending the Eagles' lead with an excellent goal (3-1), his first in the Sacred Mantle.
In the 90th minute, there was another goal from a set piece - the fifth laboratory goal of the 14 scored by Benfica since Bruno Lage returned to coach the professional Football team. Beste's corner at the far post was deflected in by Otamendi and Florentino headed in what was his third goal for the eagles (4-1).
At the end of the four minutes of stoppage time, in the 90'+4', Prestianni crossed a tense ball into the penalty area, Andrew couldn't hold onto the ball and Rollheiser pushed it into the net (5-1): the second goal from players who started the match as substitutes.
In António Silva's 100th game in the first team, Benfica picked up another three points, bringing their winning streak to four games, three of them in the league. On Wednesday, October 2, at 8 pm, the Eagles host Atlético de Madrid, on matchday 2 of the Champions League league phase.
