Following the storm that hit the island of São Vicente in Cape Verde on August 11, Sport Lisboa e Benfica publicly expresses the solidarity of the Club and all Benfiquistas with the people of Cape Verde.

In this context, the Benfica Foundation is gathering the necessary partnerships for a humanitarian action to donate medicines and hospital supplies to Cape Verde's public health organizations to help mitigate the effects of the storm and control the inevitable impacts that the destruction of infrastructure will have on public health.

This action is once again part of the Benfica Foundation's policy of seeking to be an active partner in disaster contexts at national and international level and whose context allows for useful and relevant action.

Open doors provide a different context

The Social Services of the GNR, in collaboration with the National Guard of Ukraine, have integrated a group of 20 Ukrainian children aged between 6 and 14 who have suffered irreparable losses since the beginning of the war into their holiday camps, with the aim of removing them from their current living environment. As a partner, the Benfica Foundation organized visits to the Estádio da Luz and the Benfica Museum – Cosme Damião with a Ukrainian guide, in order to broaden the range of activities planned for these young people. The initiative was attended by Domingos Almeida Lima, vice president of Benfica and the Foundation – who highlighted the “concern to always be close to young people” – as well as Arménio Pedroso, vice president of Social Services at GNR, and Liudmyla Kulius, former secretary of the Ukrainian GNR.

An unforgettable Children's Day

This Tuesday, May 27, the Benfica Foundation and Sport Lisboa e Benfica marked World Children's Day with the participation of more than 1,500 young people.  Between the Estádio da Luz pitch and the pavilions, there were fun, educational and sporting activities, with the contribution of the various sports and the partners of the Club and the Foundation. Lively, with everything designed to stimulate the children and provide them with different experiences, this was a “very special” moment, as Jorge Miranda, director of the Foundation, told BTV. "We couldn't miss the opportunity to have an unforgettable day," he said. Representing the Almeirim Karting Circuit, Tiago Evaristo stressed the importance of “road education”.
