Benfica's Under-17 team saw the access to the final of the Alkass International Cup be denied. After a 3-all draw in the regular time, the eagles lost in the penalty shootout, by  4-5.

In a one-way traffic match in Qatar, the goalkeeper of Kashiwa, Leo Kakubo, was one of the standout performers with several saves throughout the 90 minutes.

Benfica started the match with Samuel Soares; João Ferreira, Alexandre Penetra, Francisco Saldanha, Rafael Brito; Henrique Jocu, Tiago Gouveia, Ronaldo Camará, Gonçalo Ramos, Jair Tavares and Gonçalo Gomes.

On Wednesday, at 3:30 pm, local time (three hours earlier in mainland Portugal), Benfica faces Espérance Tunis in the fight for 3rd and 4th place.

Preparation on stage for the final

On Tuesday afternoon, May 20, Benfica's professional football team trained at the Estádio Nacional, the venue for the Portuguese Cup final. Ruy Castelo Branco, director of the Benfica Residential Academy, and Adriano Laaber, coach of the Benfica Residential Academy women's team, visited the Benfica Campus on Tuesday, May 20, where they had the opportunity to follow the daily activities. "The main objective of the academy is to develop the athlete with the Benfica methodology and combine the academic part with the athletic part," Ruy Castelo Branco told BTV. “Feeling and experiencing this on a daily basis, especially the energy of the Benfica Campus, is enriching,” he said, noting that the goal is to continue cementing the Club's values in the United States.
