The 2nd edition of the event organized by Benfica took place at the Museum Cosme Damião and was attended by several notorious names in the Scouting area.
04 March 2018, 20h56
Between football and other sports, several speakers gave their opinion on several themes. Open to the public, everyone present was able to hear João Guerra (co-founder and CEO of DreamFootball), Jose Luis Castro (Scouting Manager of Athletic Club Bilbao), José Boto (scout - SL Benfica), Luís Campos (Sporting adviser of LOSC Lille), Pedro Ferreira (coordinator of the Youth Training Scouting Department- SL Benfica) and Sérgio Proença (Swimming Technical Manager – SL Benfica).
Also present was Pedro Mil-Homens, general manager of Caixa Futebol Campus, who explained, in statements to BTV, the objective of the conference.
“Exchange of experiences, hear what others do, sharing what we do and at the end, they are moments in which I think we all learn. This is the second edition of the Youth Conference and the important is that the room was full. It is good to share with those who do the same we do, which is to seek good players”, he said.
One of the themes under discussion was the new technologies at the service of Scouting and Pedro Mil-Homens gave his opinion.
“New technologies are always important, but they are an instrument because the product we want to watch is there. Clearly, nowadays it is unthinkable to ignore the new technologies because they help us to better organize the data base”, he admitted.
Apart from the new technologies, other themes were approached. They were: observation on video vs in loco; the cultural influence on the player scouting; training assets. A market strategy; roundtable: “Talent identification in different sports (collective and individual)”.
