Diva Meira joins the Women's football

Diva Jesus Faria Meira is the 18th and most recent new signing of the women's football team of Benfica. The 18-year-old left-back (16-02-2000), born in Barcelos, joins the Benfiquista family and does not hide the pride of representing the color of the Club from Luz.

“It is a Club that has huge magnitude, a club where many people would like to be and I have no words to describe what I am feeling”, confessed the youngster, in statements to BTV.

Diva Meira is a Portuguese international for the U-19 and played three seasons for Vilaverdense.

“I always played with boys and three years ago, I joined the women's team of Vilaverdense. I usually play for the U-19 national team, which is my category and I also played for the U-16 and U-17”, told the player.

The left-back, who describes herself as "persistent, perfectionist, quick and hard" on the pitch, has no doubts when it comes to objectives.

“At the individual level, I want to do the best I can, to be champion in all the competitions we play in and, at the collective level, I want the best for the team”, she assured.

Diva Meira remembers how important is the presence of the Benfiquistas. “The support of the fans would be very important for our new journey”, she stressed.
