Gedson, Benfica's midfielder, has just been included on the list of 60 nominees for the Golden Boy award, attributed by the Italian newspaper "Tuttosport", that aims to elect the best U-21 player of the season in Europe.

The 19-year-old Portuguese player, launched by the coach Rui Vitória, made his debut for Benfica's first team on August 7, 2018, at Estádio da Luz, in a night in which the Reds beat Fenerbahçe by 1-0, in the first leg of the Champions League 3rd qualifying round.

The centre-midfielder, who is at the Club since he was 9 years old, played has a starter in the 8 official matches played by the eagles in 2018/19 – Liga NOS and Champions – and scored one goal (against Fenerbahçe, in Istanbul).

Gedson

Besides Gedson, also João Filipe (Jota), another benfiquista Made in Caixa Futebol Campus, is included in the batch of 60 candidates to the Golden Boy.

In 2016, the award was won by Renato Sanches, who became the first Portuguese player to receive this accolade.
