At Benfica since March 5, 2018 and already with several achievements, the canoeist Fernando Pimenta, in an interview with BTV, spoke about his path at the Club and about the goals he intends to achieve.

The canoeist of Benfica assured that all the successes so far are the fruit of a lot of work, without never forgetting who he is and where he came from.

I have been working a lot for these results, continuing to be the usual Fernando Pimenta. I think that is very important for an athlete, despite being able to achieve results of excellence, to remain true to himself”, he confessed.

Fernando Pimenta does not forget the day in which he arrived at the Club, remembering it as a “fantastic moment” in his career.

The transition to Benfica was a big moment in my career, as an athlete and as a person. It was a fantastic moment to arrive at Club with this magnitude. Any athlete, even though sometimes he might deny it, always has a special desire of representing a club like this”, assumed the athlete.

The canoeist guaranteed that he was not expecting to the received by the Benfiquistas in such an enthusiastic manner and underlined the responsibility of wearing the Sacred Mantle.

To represent Benfica gives us another responsibility. To be working with a Club that has a huge history in terms of others sports is totally different. When we are with Benfica's Jersey we have to think our actions very wisely”, he said.

With regard to the goals he still wants to achieve, Fernando Pimenta leaves no doubts: “The main goal is the Olympic qualification principal. It is only in August 2019, but the preparation starts now. I am very focused as I have always been so far. If I have to renounce the thing I renounced so far, to be far from my family and friends, which is the hardest thing, I renounce. I am Psychologically and physically ready. I know the path I have to cover to get there”, he said.
