Fernando Pimenta is nominated by The world Paddle Awards in the category Sportsman of 2018.

After a golden 2017 for the Benfica canoeist – World Cup in The Czech Republic (K1 5000m), European Champion in Bulgaria (K1 1000m) and silver medalist in K1 1000m in the World Cup and K1 5000m in the European Championship –, 2018 was another year of successes.

The sportsman born in Ponte de Lima was the standout performer of the K1 1000m at the Canoe World Championships, which took place in Montemor-o-Velho, after winning the gold. The Portuguese canoeist also finished first in K1 5000m.

In 2018, Fernando Pimenta, who is linked with Benfica until 2021, he was: European Champion (K1 1000m), European Vice-champion (K1 5000m), National Champion (K1 1000m), National Champion (K2 1000m) and Long-distance National Champion (K1 5000m).
