Women's football
The 30-year-old Swedish forward joins the Women’s football squad of Benfica for the 2019/20 season.
24 January 2020, 20h00
"It’s impressive what Benfica’s players did last season and keep doing. The games, the union, the victories, the titles... I’m excited with the ambition that the club is showing. I believe that, in the future, this team will be fighting for international titles too. I definitely wanted to be a part of the history they are building here and that’s why I’m here", she said to BTV.
Born in Sweden, Julia Spetsmark played for clubs such as QBIK, Sunnana SK and Karlslunds Örebro, from her homeland, and Manchester City, leaving it shortly after in 2018 to join Djurgarden.
"I’m looking forward to meet my teammates and the coaching staff. I know it’s a quality squad and I come to help. I want to play as soon as possible. I’m ready to make my contribution to the team", confessed the Swedish player.
In 2019/20, played for North Carolina Courage and scored twice in 12 games.
"I was playing for one of the best teams in the world, although I didn’t have the chance to play regularly. I hope to improve even more at this great club and come back to the Swedish national team. Now, what is important is to start working and integrate the group", concluded Julia Spetsmark.
