The judoka from Sport Lisboa e Benfica Anri Egutidze won Portugal's first medal in the World Judo Championships that are taking place in Budapest. The athlete finished in 3rd place in the -81 kg category.

In addition to Anri Egutidze, Benfica has more judokas in Hungary. Telma Monteiro (-57 kg), Rodrigo Lopes (-60 kg), Bárbara Timo (-70 kg) and Rochele Nunes (+78 kg) for Portugal, and Djamila Silva (-52 kg) representing Cape Verde.
