Women's football
Having been at the club for six seasons, the five-time national champion signed a contract valid until 2027 and pointed to “more titles for Benfica”.

Catarina Amado with vice-president Fernando Tavares
"It's a unique feeling because I'm one of the oldest athletes in this project. These have been incredible years, with a lot of growth. This has made me proud, not only of myself, but also of the investment Benfica has made in women's football", reacted the Portuguese international, after signing the contract, in statements to the SLB media.
Catarina Amado began her journey with an eagle on her chest in 2019/20 – 6 seasons ago - and is one of the players who played with an eagle on her chest in the 5 titles that make up Fifth league title in a row recently won, along with Lúcia Alves, Pauleta, Carole Costa, Christy Ucheibe, Andreia Faria and Nycole Raysla.
"It also makes me proud to be part of this history that Benfica have made and to be one of the five-time champions. From now on, what you can expect is the same ambition, the same mentality. The Benfica mentality of going out to win. As far as it depends on us and the goals we have set ourselves for the coming seasons, it's that Benfica mentality," she said.
This season, in which Benfica celebrated their fifth championship and the League Cup, with the final of the Portuguese Cup still to be played on Saturday, May 17, the footballer took part in 36 official matches and scored 1 goal.
The individual goals for this new cycle are clear: “To do well in the Champions League and to keep winning titles for Benfica.”
"As well as being an athlete, I'm a Benfica fan, and fans live for victories. I know what it's like to be on the other side, so as far as it's up to me and what I can do with the team, it's about having a Benfica mentality and going out to win," she said.
Fresh in her memory, as if they had happened yesterday, Catarina Amado highlighted the most special moments she experienced at the Club.
"In the Champions League, a very personal moment, when I scored the 1-2 against BK Häcken [ on matchday 4 of Group D in 2021/22], which decided our passage. Winning the Portuguese Cup [in 2023/24], which was a dream I'd had since I got into women's football. I managed to achieve it," she revealed
In a journey that has been traveled side by side with the Benfica fans, the five-time champion left them a message: "The support of the fans has been fundamental over these years, and I want to appeal to them to continue supporting us in the coming seasons, because they make a difference in the season and in the games."
